I know it’s almost Christmas and we should to be buying for our loved ones, but what is Christmas without a little gift to ourselves too? After all, there are lots of events to attend over the next few weeks and everyone wants to look their best at Christmas.

So naturally, a new dress is the least you can do to ensure you don’t let the family portraits down this Yuletide (with genius logic like this it’s a wonder Mensa haven’t been in touch yet).

In the basket today is this gorgeous graphic shirt dress from Louche at Joy. I actually love it.  Love, love it.

It is terrifically 70s in style but the moment I saw it I was reminded of one of my favourite childhood films, Little Women (1949).

The dresses that were worn by the likes of June Allyson, Margaret O’Brien and Elizabeth Taylor were utterly beautiful in a frugal, understated way.

Now granted, a 70s style shirt dress probably wasn’t hugely in fashion during the American Civil War of the 1860s, but still, those fond childhood memories are lovingly evoked when I gaze adoringly at this dress.

So I for one am sold.

Currently on offer at Joy this darling number is perfect for the festive wardrobe.

Love, Emma x
